Design Services
Chalcroft founded their in house Design team in 2004. Since then Design has grown from a small team working on a single telecommunications project to a department in its own right with a newly appointed Head of Design.
With a core of trusted freelance support the department is involved in projects throughout the UK.
Acquisition and Planning
Chalcroft Design has a partnership with an Acquisition Company to offer Site Acquisition and Development Right assessments.
The in house surveying teams have the necessary expertise to establish building and site layouts and our Chartered Engineers are able to undertake condition/structural assessments.
The survey information is converted into layout drawings and the proposed works superimposed for planning purposes.
Chalcroft have a partner who can present these drawings to seek planning approval, and through pre-consultation, ensure the presented scheme will meet such approval.
Detailed Design
Once Planning Consent has been obtained Chalcroft can undertake the detailed design works.
This includes structural, civil and electrical engineering and related drawings as well as calculations for submission to Building Control for Building Regulation Submission
Structural Analysis
Chalcroft use structural analysis software to optimise the design of complex structures.
This allows us to reduce steel weight, and hence cost, while ensuring criteria such as deflection are met.
Reaction loads on supporting building structures can be accurately assessed, aiding the process of Building Control approval.
This picture shows a structure designed for the roof of a building in New Southgate.

Burne House
Paddington Telephone Exchange, London
Chalcroft designed installations for two telecommunications operators in parallel on this congested high rise building in central London.
Structural capacity had to be found at roof level in amongst the numerous other operators using the site for radio services.

Jarvis Hotel, Crawley
Jarvis Hotel, Crawley
Chalcroft’s design for the installation of T-Mobile equipment on this building had to be as visually discrete as possible.
The Antennas were kept to a minimum height above the roof parapet and cabinets were designed to fix on a steel support grillage toward the centre of the roof, hidden from ground level.

Peterborough Telephone Exchange
Peterborough Telephone Exchange
When BT announced they were to sell off part of this large telephone exchange, Chalcroft were appointed to relocate the existing Orange and T-Mobile telecommunications equipment to another area of the building.
We developed a cost effective design that achieved both the operators’ radio coverage requirements and BT’s property management.
